Arena stalling poor sportsmanship

Stalling as arena time is about to run out in order to avoid a loss is obviously poor sportsmanship and should always be reported. The problem here chess.com is that when a game times out at the end of arena, there is no record of the game, so unless you report while the games is still on, you lose all context and lose the player name that should be reported

I think those games are just part of the way Arena works.

Hello,

I’m writing because a recurring issue on your platform is becoming extremely frustrating and unfair. In many tournaments, players who are clearly lost intentionally refuse to resign and instead let the clock run down. They often have 5 minutes of thinking time left while the tournament itself ends in less than that, which effectively blocks the game and causes me to lose points through no fault of my own.

This behavior is not only unsportsmanlike but also openly abusive. When confronted, some of these players even respond with insults. At this point, it’s happening so frequently that it’s ruining the tournament experience.

I’m asking you to address this problem seriously. Whether through automatic detection, penalties, or adjustments to the tournament timer, something needs to change. Honest players should not be punished because others exploit the system.

I have already reported several of these players, but nothing has been done so far.

That is the way arenas work. Everyone does that.

I got mad too the first time a game of mine was aborted that way. Then I saw that everyone or almost everyone does that.

And they still make fun of you with rude comments? Horrible...I mean, should I become rude too?

I did, and of course I blocked them so I wouldn't see or hear them anymore, and I played against two of them again in a tournament, funny... I mean, I understand what kind of world I live in, but this isn't at all difficult to solve from a technical point of view, and I actually react to it with anger, I understand that this is "normal" behavior.

So you end up with a king and two pawns against a queen and a rook, and then you spend the remaining five minutes thinking about your next move? Impressive — not only are you a true gentleman, you’ve also managed to embody the very essence of this game in the most… unique way.
