arghh time limit!!!

I'm in a definite winning position, about to promote my pawn to Queen, only to see that I only have 30 seconds remaining while my opponent still has a good 3 minutes. 'm only beginning to study this game so I haven't trained myself to such "blitz" conditions, so yeah i'm disappointed.

I play a pretty solid game and I get beat by time!!! This is against a chessmaster personality btw. I set my time limit at 30 minutes per game (and I assume that whoever runs out of time first loses). I used to be able to beat them with that time now I find myself short. Happened a couple of times already. I just offered a draw (which the computer blindly accepted) to save my rating.

Oh my god, you care what rating Chessmaster gives you.

LastImpression

hahahaaha well either way I don't think there was any hope of me winning the game, so might as well take the draw

What a load of nonsense. If you haven't trained yourself in such conditions, might as well get some practice!

Kinan

Well, you can view it from a fair angle, you used up more time than you opponent in thinking and improving your position so it's not unfair at all.

LastImpression

@Loomis: of course, I'm planninng to do that.

@Kinan: I'm not disputing fairness/unfairness. It's more of being upset at myself because maybe I wasted too much time thinking about certain some moves.

Is 56 moves (for me) in 29 mins 30 seconds just right? Or was I too slow?

I use 2 play 10min games; I thought they were 2 long.  now i play 7min games.  U always have all the time u need.  What about when u win, when your opponent runs out of time.  U have 2 b able 2 think fast, think on your feet.  I've lost games n which I clearly had superior position, because time expired; its my fault.  It is a real benefit 2 play against the clock; makes u sharper.
