You're bashing him for no reason-blinded by your rage. Hes a great commentator, I think you should take a walk and calm down.
Ashley's Commentary at US Championship
FYI I started playing chess because of him. I got this speed chess DVD with 4 leading GMs and Ashley as commentator and it was entertaining as anything.
100% agree with OP.
Any random kibitzer online can do the job Ashley is doing.
Also... where the hell are his eyebrows?
He did the same crap at the Sinquefield cup 2014, and before the Aronian post game interview he said "Soon to be.. number 3 in the world" after caruana started his streak, and Aronian cringed so hard.
I also wonder how he got his GM title... did he pay FIDE for it? because when you check his player card, you see him frequently losing to NMs, FMs, he even lost to a 2000, who drew everyone else.
He's a good commentator. The videos from the 90's are the best. The modern stuff is just too much, it's not football it's a board game.
This is a video from the 90's between Kasparov and Kramnik. They're so much better than today's videos. You can hear Maurice Ashley, you can't see him but you know it's his voice.

I would take Seirawan, Shahade, and Ashley over any other live tournament commentators I have ever seen. So many of these random GMs doing commentary offer very little. They go, "hmmm, maybe this, hmmm, maybe not...I'm not really sure, hmmm...", then they will take a complicated looking position and only offer, "Giri is clearly ahead here." It's incredibly boring to watch most live tournament commentary. As a package, Seirawan, Shahade, and Ashley do a great job of informing us of what's going on and making it interesting the whole time. Ashley is just there to give some engine analysis and break up the commentary, and he does a fine job at that. Seirawan always has interesting stories that make a point. More commentators would do well to imitate him.
Looks more like a screaming fool to me
You can block me or ban me from the chat but that does not change the fact that GM Ashley is horrible.
He pimps his own event too often.
He offers nothing but engine analysis.
He projects his own mental state onto players.
He is a cliche machine.
Stop perpetruating the myth that this fool is doing something positive for chess.
