If you have only ever played online, what is the best way to get into in person tournaments? I only started learning chess during the pandemic, so I have never played IRL. What are the differences between online play and in person play? Do you feel like you play better online or in person? Is there anything I should be aware before attending a tournament (rules, etiquette, general advice?)

why is it almost all top chess players are physically fit despite spending most of their time sitting?
The top players work out a lot.
Magnus is a prime example. He is great at soccer and tennis.
So was I.
And in the top three in the UK at table football.

Well Liverpool University Students Union was known to be the best centre for tf in the country and I was the best player there at doubles, although there was a porter from the Liverpool Polytechnic who used to come over and he was a reflex player only. VERY fast .... and at singles we were equal. Kept getting 4-4 draws but he was no good at all at doubles and I was a doubles player.
This was about 1973 ... anyway, there were two students who played a little but basically they just watched. One day they approached me and told me that they travelled all over the country to WATCH TABLE FOOTBALL. There were four really good players in the UK, they told me. One in Aberdeen, one in London and one in Leeds. They said that they didn't know why they travelled to these places 100s of miles away when they could just stay here and watch one of the best players. They rated me either 2nd or 3rd best ... they weren't sure. They obviously had money, to have that as a hobby.
