Asking for a draw

So I was playing someone earlier and he asked me for a draw. I declined, but he just left me hanging there. He didn't resign. I'm a rookie and I just want to get my pathetic rating higher than 522.... Lol.

So I'm thinking if he resigned my rating might go up a few points. But he didn't he just left. Or was pondering a move for 20 minutes . Lol.

How does that work? to add points to your rating?

I'll remember that. Thanks.

It’s called stalling and is something lame jerks do. They just basically leave the game on and don’t play. They are hoping that you get bored and just accept the draw or quit the game.

You should report them for stalling. If they do this too often, chess.com will either warn them or punish them in some other way. But it’s important to report them.

Okay, good to know. I hate it when people waste my time. Stalling, I learned a new terminology.wink.png

I agree. If you cant commit an hour of your time you should play the computer. But the point of playing when all looks hopeless is how you learn

No. The point in playing when all looks hopeless is the chance that your opponent will blunder. Analyzing your games is how you learn.

I haven't really analyzed any games yet. My brain isn't wired that way.
