Any one of you exp. this?  Quite annoying and time wasting. 

Chess.com might be doing this for profits. Ads too were spam and not genuine.

Could be adware not related to Chess.com. You might ought to mosey on over to Malwarebytes ( https://www.malwarebytes.org/ ), or even pay a visit to Bleepingcomputer ( http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/ ) and try something like AdwCleaner.
