Hope you recover soon friend!
Coming to 30min live chess,as much as its exciting it is also mind crunching with the time factor running at the back of your mind.Especially as a beginner, I personally have decided to first solidify my chess fundamentals using correspondence chess and get more understanding of the game before dabbling in 30min or blitz chess.
What I figured was, we as beginners always tend to end up just reacting in those forms of chess rather than doing something proactively as our minds arent even tuned to the state where we can even evaluate the position at hand in such a less time. Either we end up making a bad move, falling in trap or lose on time when we try to think it out. Also, the live chess tends to be more tactical rather than positional, which is again a handicap if you aren't practising tactics regularly and as beginners that is one major thing which we need to do before we even wonder why we are losing.
I am currently working through, Susan Polgar's tactics book and Silman's Amateur's Mind. Taking them in slowly but steadily. It maybe few months before I even digest those books.Till then, keep practising, losing some , winning some and learning from all of the mistakes and successes.
All the best!
Note:I owe you a game :) Send me an invite.Lets have another great game!
Today I have errored somewhat.
I have attempted to play 30 minute chess for the first time where previously I have played corresponence. I have also got flu and feel aweful.
The combination of feeling rushed because of the time constraints and feeling ill, has resulted in me making lots of really silly mistakes that could/should have easily been avoided.
I have had some easy losses today and have drastically reduced my rating score!!
