Bad puzzles bring my Puzzle rating down

Sort:
LOUD

I totally agree with you. I will go up 50 rating just to get 5 bad puzzles in a row and go down like 100!

Should be fixed.

c6 to c2

You are wrong bro, see my image. The black rook just moved from f6 to f2 and the puzzle starts there

You should look again. There are two black rooks. One on c6 and one on f8. The c6 rook moved to c2. The f8 rook couldn't move to f2 if it wanted to, being blocked by the f6 pawn.

Not if there is a mate

The rook that moved is not the f-file took. As mentioned, get rid of the rook on f8 and f6 still prevents mate.

Now I saw it, you mentioned the rook but it is the pawn defended by the rook that blocks the Bishop

pawn f7 to f6 prevents the checkmate. If that pawn was immovable than yes this puzzle solution would be wrong

Yeah, it seemed so obvious atm but I am underestimating pawn again

I had settled this as wrong information but this time it seemed obvious. I don't think this anymore it was just this case. This just makes me like this puzzles more grin

Btw you aren't forced to solve puzzles as fast as you can in puzzle rating. Take your time, try to calculate further and find every move. I have bad luck with puzzles too eventually. Sometimes I can't see first move after 30min looking on the board. Some puzzles even at max 4000 rating seems easier than some at 200 rating which is ridiculous, but our brain is constructed this way so we can calculate 10 moves ahead and at the same time be absolutely blind for some simple pawn move.

Thank you for the advice, much appreciated. This case was a mental bias one, happens to the best engineers. I did like this experience with puzzles and you are right I should take my time at all cases. This puzzle hit the right spot with the underestimating of pawns so I am learning which is my objective.
