Beating little chess partner

hi all.

I've just played little chess partner on hard, and beat it again. This time I decided to save the moves, so I can show everyone how to beat it. The key to this game was to have patience, and slowly improving my position. I hope you like it, comments are very welcome.

I played him on the highest level: hard!Cool

Interesting, your ratings are about the same as mine (live, long, your highest is similar to mine) but I have never even come close to beating LCP on hard, and medium is often quite difficult.

Maybe because of the way I play.

Actually never mind, I had just not played him for awhile, I just played a game in about 5 minutes against LCP on hard, I lost but was a few pawns ahead in endgame and just lost due to carelessness.

sebas4life

yup it's not that hard, just don't get into tactical stuff

accord2

good job guys , i still lose 1 out of 3 games on easy. oh little chess partner stop humiliating me.

sebas4life

it's okay accord, just keep playing it and you discover how to beat it.

Sometimes even the easy level can trump me in a tactical situation...but it falls for basic pawn forks and has complete disregard for its king safety lol.

Aye, I would agree very much - I just played it on easy and it accepted two Bishop sacs to clear the space around the king even though it was completely stranded with no chance of defence. Now to beat it on hard using sebas' method (which works!) :)

EDIT: as it turns out, LittleChessPartner on easy does not see mate-in-ones against a castled king. Greek gift sacs have beaten it 3/3 times for me now.

LittleChessPartner needs to be better.  I beat it often on Hard because it doesn't defend against buildups.  If ther's no direct threat, it shuffles rooks back and forth.

sebas4life

hehe yea of course it works;) It does have disregard for king safety, and it sucsk at pawn structure

If you submitted this for computer analysis on this site would the same engine do the analysis? Would it criticize its own moves?

kingforce

little partner should have played Qe7 giving 1.23+

I don't know, I never used that, but your question made me wonder, so I put it in rybka and it highly critises his moves.

for example:

13...Ng4 is much much better.

and after move 19...a5, rybka gives me mate in 12, wich I of course overlooked:)

No way. The analysis computers on this site should be much stronger than Little Chess Partner. I'm pretty sure they are completely different computers. Little Chess Partner on "Hard" is probably only about 1600 level.

I've only beat it on hard a few times, and they were all very close, positional games. I stopped playing against it because, as this game so excellently demonstrates, it gives up if your defense is sound and your attack is statistically bound to win. Few human beings will accept defeat so passively; they will at least try a last ditch suicide attack. Knowing the suicide attack will fail with proper defense, strong computers don't even bother.
