It's a "tiger prawn."

What kind of thoughts do you expect ? Pogonina doesn't like to play on the Internet apparently however she has made useful contributions, you appear to have some problem with that which I don't quite understand.

Well, as a general point, Natalia (unlike perhaps some other WGMs) is a GM strength player or very close. If she doesn't have the GM title yet, I am not sure how that makes her less qualified to comment on this than you, me, skogli...

And you are a chess god? Innocent

Chess forums like this is so fun, where else can you find that many who knows so little and make so many comments?

900 players posts games and claims to know what others should play, 1500 players claims to know what you should do to become a GM, trolls troll about other trolls!

This is actually like wacthing a comedy!

And before anny other tells me: Yes I know that I do it myself, but annyway Cool

I've made no comment about Ms. Pogonina's fitness to post on these forums. Please try to make sense.

Maybe you could try to at least express yourself in reasonable English, since I don't think that you are a Gruzinian-American GM. Tongue out

Natalia is rated 2472 at the moment, and was rated above 2500. I am not sure why she doesn't get the GM title.

She broached the subject here once. In short, a woman player can carve out her professional niche without getting the GM title and not mainly playing in men's tournaments.

It seems that being one of the best women players in the world gets her enough rewards and perks.

My earlier thought was All the best women are trying for more and for the best title, but the WGM enlightened me.

It's one thing to have the rating. It's another to have the 3 norms required. Did you know there was a GM-elect from Zambia, Amon Simutowe (that's what he was called) who got 3 norms but was below 2500 so they held the award in suspension until then....? In fact 8 other players were in the same situation. I've looked around and still can't find that he's been confirmed.

Chess is fun. I just started playing couple days ago. I'll be GM in couple months :)

Can anyone become a GM on chess.com?

TheGreatOogieBoogie

You need raw talent on top of hard study.  If you were ever Class D or below even as a kid starting out you'll never be a GM IMHO.

If you were ever class D or below?

You think the Carlsens of the world were at least 1400 a week after learning the moves?  I think not.

It's totally impossible to be a grandmaster in one year :p

BTW Carlsen has a photographic memory, he remembered every country in Alphabetical order when he was about 9/10. Then after 20/21 he recited it all in the exact same order.

to be a GM is to hold a place relative to other players in the field. If most grandmasters have spent 10 years to become GM then it stands to reason that to beat them you would have to spend an equal amount of time.
