Yeah. It's hard to understand. We get hooked on numbers. We win, we lose. We make mistakes. They make errors. But when you play end games and tactic vs the computer, and learn how to execute correctly. That will show a greater level and understanding. Much greater than I beat a man who blundered. My opinion. Lol

Chess mentor is not entirely truthful either. Take a lucena position they teach. Then play it. S Houdini or whatever engine you have on its highest level. Then you can truly see the challenge. Just a couple of tips. Even though I'm sure you are way more talented than me. This is something I have learned.

I suppose that the information and the presentation, not to mention dialogue on this website, can definitely boost someone on his way to higher chess levels - including American NM, or international FM.
A lot of the work should be done alone, of course - such as analysis, during and after a game, study of openings, tactics, endgames and strategy...

Measure your success in your understanding of the game and how much fun you have. Not by a meaningless number
