Beginner at Chess - book recommendations

Hello,

I am beginner at chess. I would like to recommend me some books so i can start learning chess.

Also, i would like to tell me your opinion in how i can start learn to play chess.

I'm afraid you might be right. I still prefer physical books. My (former) favorite source for chess books was ChessCafe, but I've noticed that nearly all of the recent book additions and restocks to their inventory are e-books. I may never order from them again. Cry

Everyone recommends Chirnov's Logical Chess Move by Move and Silman's Endgame Course.

And Chessbase is so buggy!  For over $150 not including the engine I deserve better than looking at a position and randomly having it reset on me during guess the move (notation pane off).
