Beginner looking for learning program
Broccolis,
Welcome to the wonderful world of chess.
No, I don't have anything specific to recommend, but you hit the nail on the head yourself - soak up as much as possible.
Visit your local library or a used bookstore for chess books to read and study with. Play as often as you can, whether it be online here at chess.com, or on any of the hundreds of other sites, or over-the-board. Download a few chess engines and use them to spar/train with. Watch the thousands of available lectures on YouTube. Visit other chess websites that offer help in the form of tactics training, or endgame technique, or what-have-you. If you haven't already done so, become a member of the United States Chess Federation, and consider entering a local tourney. Look for an join a chess club in your area.
If you do even half of these things, your ability and your enjoyment of the game will increase exponentially.
