Being asked to resign - yet another question

I have seen other questions about being asked to resign on here, but none that cover this specific topic.

I have a game going on, right now, with a player that is asking me to resign and claiming it will increase my points, because he will resign right after I do....but he insists that I resign first.  I'm just ignoring him at this point, but can anyone tell me if there is something I'm missing??

Here's the chat conversation:

OTHER PLAYER: If you resign i will resign

OTHER PLAYER: You will be 959

ME: why do you want to resign?

OTHER PLAYER: if you resign i will i said

OTHER PLAYER: you resign first

OTHER PLAYER: move knight

ME: feel free to offer a draw, if you like

OTHER PLAYER: no i wil lose points you resign for resign

Thanks for any feedback!

You can't resign "first" or "last". If you resign, you lose the game. What your opponent says makes no sense at all. You did the right thing by ignoring your opponent.

lol, if you resign first then I will resign, that's a good one.

And the rating you get losing is always the same no matter the way you lose

Yeah, the "something" you're missing is that you're being trolled.

never resign until you are sure that you are losing. the guy/girl you are playing against is pretty rude to ask you to resign, its your descision to resign or not. and there is no doubble resign, the first player to resign a game loses. you did the right thing to ignore that douche. also chess is not about points, its about getting better and feel good with your play.

Thanks everyone!  I figured he was just trying to trick me, but I'm fairly new to chess.com, so I thought I might be missing something.

What a douche, indeed!

You did the right thing..if u are a new player only a first resign can do u

some good in points terms..if a regular and established player there won't

be any diff. if u lose the game now or a bit later..my observations..

1.if playing with a player above 2000 resign,if u have lost a piece or 2 pawns.

2.above 1800 also this applies ,in addition your position should be of

disadvantage..

3.below 1500 never resign..he could also blunder..and u might be

able to salvage a draw atleast..
