Get over what? And do you know that they are kids? Do you have proof?
We have a right to expect that this site to keep focused on chess, regardless of age, sex, religion, etc. etc.
At the very least, kids should not be given special consideration.

I would kind of like to see the "first", "easy", "got it" posts to be cut down a bit. :) It is not necessarily annoying to me, but I wouldn't want to read 18-20 pages of those kind of posts. :) Sometimes people have questions or concerns about a certain variation and sometimes I try to answer, but if those questions are buried in those "easy" posts then those questions may not be found and answered. :)

I agree Einstein, and I believe your opinion is reflected often in this topic. I often like to read the comments to see what other players have to say, offer my opinion on alternatives, and other puzzle related business.
Unfortunately, there is no easy solution and it is really not that big a deal in the big scheme of things. But people will be people I guess.

Sorry to have posted an 'easy' once. Thougt it was some sort of custom. Agreed it was useless and will not do this again
Also find this annoying when tracking the posts delivers only useless comentary. Mayby the trick is to set up a seperate post-line for serious discussion. Since the puzzle is a post itself maby a little side-tag could lead to this serious post-line. The ignorants will use the main line and thus can be avoided. They won't take the trouble entering the discussions because they won't be noticed there.

Not only does it bother me -- It bothers me more than it should... As TonyDal mentioned, the "easy" stuff is also very annoying. And the guy screaming easy is usually a total and complete patzer who can't make 5 moves in a row without hanging a piece. I guess these are just opportunities to practice Zen-like detachment and composure ... but there's something about these people who bother people for no other purpose than to bother people which, err, um, bothers me.

Just by posting this thread (which has nothing to do about chess), you've contradicted your statement. Chill out, and don't read the puzzle comments if it bothers you so much.
Sigh...there has to be one or two in every thread.
My statement is about chess in-so-much as it explains my opinion relating to what is relevant in the chess forums. Agree or disagree with me if you will, but don't try to sound smarter than you are by trying to catch me in a logical fallacy.
Also, please refrain from giving me advice as to how I deal with, or react to, site content. I deal with the opinions of enough idiots in my day to day life. Thank you.
Now back to the situation at hand. I have realized from many of your posts that:
a. most of you are irritated by this as well
b. that this occurs throughout various forums on the web.
c. there can be a valid reason for posting "first" such as using it as a placeholder.
This is mostly what I set out to accomplish, and thus thank you all for your comments.

Why do you guys let people like this bother you? We're all entertained by playing chess; they're obviously entertained by posting first. This site is a gaming site, don't take it so seriously. Do what's fun for you, and let the others do their thing.
Seriously. Reading a post of "first" or "easy" shouldn't cause this much anger in you people! You're chess players, just take a seat and play a board or two.

How about locking the daily puzzle thread after the puzzle is posted. Problem solved.
That's a bad idea. In all but the very simplest puzzles there are alternative defenses, odd-looking moves or seemingly plausible attacking alternatives. The forum do serve a purpose in that more experienced tacticians can answer questions about those lines and post relevant and helpful analysis. A much better solution, though one that does require extra work, is to have "daily puzzle-moderator" with the only purpose of deleting pointless comments. His policy ought to be to give the benefit of doubt to all cases with the least uncertainty not to offend someone who actually tried to contribute.
Agreed. Someone who could delete "first" or "easy" or "got it in 5 sec" would clear up the forum.
Those exclaming about what a nice sacrifice the puzzle contained, or a brilliant deflection, interference, etc. etc. should be allowed to have their comment remain.
I think the distinction should be whether the post has anything to do with chess, specifically the puzzle being displayed.
I am off to the daily puzzle to be (probably) irritated by the "first" poster now.
