If you have daily responsibilities that fill your time and prevent you from consistently playing, a game with more than 48 hours between turns can be an excellent way to stay involved in chess.
Playing correspondence means that you're playing with the same individuals for weeks, or months at a time. This is a great way to build relationships with people who are also interested in chess from all over the world!
Correspondence chess allows you to think much more deeply about possible moves, calculating the best path to take. When you think about a position for 5-20 minutes or more, you're able to come up with many more plans. With enough practice calculating through correspondence chess, this ability to identify which plans will work can translate into your 60 minute, 30 minute, and 10 minute games.
When the games aren't as rushed, you get to play at your best. Playing long term games will help you come up with new tricks!
