Stanley Kubrick was a very strong player.
Thank you! Yes I was.
That Prokofiev game!
I saw a number of his games. There's no way he was a 2000 player. I think 2200-2300, and certainly not under 2150.
I admire your enthusiasm. I admire Prokofiev as a composer- if I had a piano rating, I would probably be an IM! But unfortunately it's not very easy for us to evaluate players above our rating. You can say that Prokofiev would beat you, and I could say Prokofiev could beat me, but it's a little speculative for us to talk about the 2000 - 2200 range. I would be more confident if a titled player reviewed his games and said something. Personally, I think putting him at master strength is wishful thinking. As far as I know he didn't spend tons of time studying chess, and while he may have studied a lot and was very good, 2200 is a very, very strong rating. I think that putting him at 2000 is pretty reasonable, based on what people around that rating (including yourself) have told me.
He is the only celebrity chess player I have seen who, by many accounts, is solidly an expert, so I think he has a very good chance of topping this list.
I've seen other estimates as low as 1800 though. While the games we have are brilliant tactical games and his losses show his ability even better than his wins (they show how hard he is to beat even when he has a losing position, which is a huge part of being a 1900 - 2000 player) there are still aren't quite enough games to be sure of his complete style.
Beating Capablanca with black though? I feel confident to place him at 2000+. I feel that it s a good data point to fall back on.
No no - I think that he's much stronger than I am. Just no way that he would be rated 2000. His understanding is of another level. I stand by what I wrote here.
And that's nice, about you being a piano IM :-) You got any recordings to back that up?
The elo rating system didn't exist in Lenin's lifetime so there's no way he could have earned a rating. That list is bogus.
And that's nice, about you being a piano IM :-) You got any recordings to back that up?
Nope, just exaggeration :-) I have a lot to learn.
marcel Duchamp? he was a famous painter, and also a chess player. he even played in olympiads and drew Frank Marshall
A friend of mine texted me the info. I'll ask him for the article....hold on....
Your friend is an idiot. This is a complete fabrication.
I guess so. He's not returning my answers.
Yes Trump, you are!
