Best Chess Books Illegally Available for Free

Hello, I'm looking to improve chess and want to start reading chess books.

What are the best online free chess books? Yes, I realize it's immoral. Yes, I realize that chess book writers make very little money. That is why I would prefer reading the book of someone who is dead, who cares about royalties? Drovetsky, Alekhine, those sorts of old chaps would be great

Well.. The Library exsists...

I think Icelandic libraries have a larger collection of chess books than the US. I rarely see decent chess books in my library

CheckmateGenius
If they have seirawan's and Lasker's then you'll get great if you study those. Any book if you haven't already learned the content will help you improve. Additionally you can look on Ebay for some used books for cheap.

I guess I'll check again to see if anything turned up. I remember reading one Seirawan book from the library, but, as far as I know, that was the only one.

This thread should not exist.

Because the honesty is brutal?

wanmokewan

Because you're asking about pirating which is illegal and I'm pretty sure is against the TOS.

Yeah... I mean, let's be honest: which one of us hasn't ever read a pirated book, watched a pirated movie, listened to a pirated song... About 5 years ago you could find literally any song on Youtube, put up by regular people, and the videos regularly got hundreds of thousands if not millions of views. I used to listen to songs on Youtube all the time, although back then I wasn't aware that the videos were piracy, and technically illegal. Nowadays Youtube seems to be pretty serious about the copyright stuff, so if you want to listen to a song on Taylor Swift's new album that wasn't released as a single you have to buy the album... which I'm not going to do since I'm not that big of a fan.

Really? Why do you think that?

wanmokewan

No no no, you're supposed to make idiotic statements, not sensible ones.

NationalPatzer

Is it idiotic because its illegal? Plenty of things are illegal in the countries on this sites, such as chewing gum. I purchase textbooks which I value, that's why I bought My System. How am I supposed to know if a book is good until I read it?.....@macer75 the libary I go to has a solid 3 or so chess books. I've never been to Iceland, but I'd assume there's a decent amount since chess is more prominent in Europe... Turns out he's not from Iceland though

NationalPatzer

The Internet is one, big library where everything you read is illegal. I'd say its Farenheit 451 in the modern day.

. . .

On an aside, books are donated to libraries, pdfs are shared. The difference is there wasn't one book purchased, which I normally change if its a decent book.

wanmokewan

Sorry, my idiotic statement was directed at chesstroll.

IpswichMatt

Not illegal I'm afraid, but here's the book that Pfren swears by on line:

Thanks, @IpswitchMatt

Well the Internet is a huge arena. Just take whatever you want and don't harm anybody else. This is my philosophy. @NationalPatzer download Utorrent app, search for any stuff that you want and you will find tons of chess books, chess engines, chessbase products etc. Have a good day.
