i personaly have issues playing e5 in otb tournaments so i play e6 ig? its probably not the best, sicilian is better, but french defense has a lot less opening theory behind it. alternatively, in blitz, if you think your opponent is high rated to the point you have 0 chance of beating them via conventional means, i sometimes premove h5 f6 g5 Nh6 nf7 and eventually try to get a system that looks something like this to confuse and timeout my opponent:
