Best way to slow down?

I feel like my game is slowly improving, but I still miss really obvious (in retrospect) moves by my opponents, which makes me really annoyed with myself for missing them.

Any advice on ways to overcome this? I'm guessing that I'm basically rushing and not examining what my opponents intentions might be.

Perhaps it's just a case of slowing down and looking at the board more before moving?

I'm posting this following being +10 and then losing to something totally obvious.
