While a great lot of male chessplayers practice soccer on occation,it is in doubt whether typical soccer players actually play chess.

In addition,a number of chess grandmasters have been pro soccer players at some time in their lifes!

A number? Agdestein is famous for it, but I'm not aware of anyone else who has played both games professionally. Can you list some?

I think chess with another sport is a great comination. Chess is obviously a very mental game, and I think that it helps certain mental aspect of sports to play chess. Chess can also be great for developing specific strategies, which is also important for sports.
