Interesting question. You almost need a narrator to act as a second to handle the input and relay results.

I don't think Shredder can do that. My old Fritz can do it; I'm not sure about newer versions. Try right-clicking the mouse on the board and selecting "Board Design...". The Pieces pulldown menu should have blindfold piece fonts (BlindAll, BlindBlack, BlindWhite).
anybody know how i can play blindfold chess on fritz 12 or shredder? I know how to use the calculation function, but wondered if there was another way.
