Some of the top players say that SOME five-minute ames are good, if done if moderation...Seirawan said it...Robert said it...my USCF Expert friend said it..e.g., to run through openings etc....and this can even be good for people at my level I am told...it seems fun, but I would limit it, at least until you are a super GM. Of course, not everything works for everyone...if it's fun for you then do it in moderation....IMO
Blitz chess

Seirawan and Robert said 2-minute games are not so good for your chess (maybe that doesn't apply to Masters).

5-minute blitz games are good for you. Blundering 3 times or so in a game per blitz is quite normal, especially considering the openings you play.
Improving blitz will help you improve your long chess as well. 5 5-minute games a week and you'll be fine.

I find blitz chess to be in the way of my play. In tournements, when I dont play blitz for months, I get maybe one blunder per four games. Lately I try blitz again, and after a few days of blitz, I bluder 3 or so times per game in blitz! I don't want to get it to mess me up, I want to think, and not just play inpulse moves.
Is blitz chess bad?
What is your experience with it, and how do you handle it?
My only question is how did you get to 2500 in tt with your live ratings

Frankly, I want to improve at blitz without messing up my standard. In tournements if I have been playing a game I can play almost my full strength under time pressure, but in blitz I get nervous and can't think much, therefore play far under my strength.

I am really interested in the answer, as I cannot see how can anyone get to 2500 to without at least one of playing rating reach 2000

Don't think about the clock. Just think of the game as an offhand game. Do a quick check to see which move your brain tells you to do, without thinking about anything.

I focus and calculate on tactics trainer. I dont play much live standard, and I get nervous and dont do much blitz. I hate bullet.
So basically Tactics are my strength, I focus, and get my nerves under calculation.
No, I dont cheat. I just do lots. They help my TOURNEMENT play because I think the same way when I do tournements as when I do tactics trainer [Usually 10m a day, today I did 60m though]

Yes, and in blitz, you don't have time to really concentrate. You can't be so afraid of making mistakes.

Blitz does not help your slow chess but when you improve your slow chess you improve your chess understanding overall , which will likely improve your blitz as well . I find blitz to be much more fun but slow chess to be more rewarding/meaningful . I think the weaker a player is the more harm a lot of blitz does .

my experience is bad in blitz...blitz has ruined my OTB game...now playing fast is become my habit and in this i lost many games...becoz i dont think too much before making move...so blitz is not good if u r serious OTB player.it is good for imtermediate player who doesnt know patterns and various openings.

A strange question. According to your testimony, blitz seems to be bad for you. So why should you care whether others think it is good or not? If it is messing up your tournament play, don't do it.
Actually, I have been careful so it hasn't, but any more and it could (and I don't do blitz more than a couple a week anyways)
