I dont think it kills your ideas, but i do think blitz does hurt your long game.
Bobby Fischer: "Blitz chess kills your ideas."

I agree. Botvinnik had the right idea. When asked if he played blitz, didn't he say on a train ONCE?
“Yes, I have played a blitz game once. It was on a train, in 1929.” So Mikhail Botvinnik once famously told Genna Sosonko, but as it turns out that wasn’t entirely true. At the recent evening to mark the centenary of Botvinnik’s birth Mark Taimanov revealed that he once played a blitz match against his mentor.
85-year-old Mark Taimanov was among the 11 legendary chess players who recently took part in a veteran's tournament in Suzdal, near Moscow (10 played rapid chess, while the 89-year-old Yuri Averbakh was the arbiter). On the day that Botvinnik had been born 100 years previously a commemorative evening was held, where Taimanov spoke for almost 15 minutes.

Great chess players are known to be masters at blitz too. But I personally feel that too much blitz can make you impatient at classical chess, and make you an addict of instant gratification.

I've read that Bobby's mentor, Jack Collins, pushed him to play blitz in order to speed up his thinking a bit since, as a kid, Bobby tended to get into time pressure.

Note Fischer didn't say, "Blitz chess is bad for your game." He said, "Blitz chess kills your ideas." By that I think he meant that you don't come up with any meaningful NEW ideas when playing blitz. Too bad we can't ask him to clarify his statement. Even if he were still around and was asked, he'd probably say that, "Jews invented blitz chess to kill the ideas of Gentiles."
MOST (not all) top chess players are also top blitz players. They are good because they have awesome (superior) chess knowledge (and pattern recognition) and can "automatically" play good moves most of the time.

Yeah. And probably if he played only blitz, he'd get worse at standard. One can see this happening for any great player.

Kills what ideas? I don't have general ideas, I try to have ideas specific to whatever position I'm in which will obviously be in either a Blitz game or not a Blitz game.
I get it, you rely less on deep analysis and creative ideas on positions when you play blitz. I'd agree, I'll limit my fast play now. Thanks!
"Blitz teaches you new ideas"

When you blitz is much higher than your OTB, then give people blitz advice.
When you OTB is much higher, give OTB advice.
If you're a world champion, you can give any kind of chess advice you wish ;)
