Book Suggestion

I'm looking for a good book on chess strategy for beginning players. I've been playing about 6 months and I'm 1100-1200 player.

What I'm looking for is a book that explains the reasoning behond various moves, opening moves, the thematic moves of various openings etc. I guess I'm looking for something with a little more text and less game examples.

Thanks,

Fundamental Chess Openings

Michahellis

Thank you for the response.I've memorized various openings up to 10-15 moves deep but I'm often asking myself,"why am I making these moves",what is the plan here, what are the key squares.I'm hoping to get an understanding of the theory behind various openings and positions.

Thanks again for your response, any others are welcomed.

World Champion Botvinnik claimed Jose Capablanca's "Chess Fundamental's" the ...Best .....Book.....EVAR......for a beginning player.

read IM Silman's books (but on chess, not the casino ones!). He's the best author that can give you positional play. Capa's books were more tactical and logical.
