I have been playing a game with an opponent who is pretty good at my rating level on online chess.  I have been down a piece throughout most of the game.  I mention this, because most people would probably wish to be ahead the piece to the four pawns that I have.  but the pawns that I have are very helpful in defending and his knight was trapped until just recently.  My opponent made one of his first bad moves (at this level, it is the only bad move I have been able to see him make at the level of chess playing that i am at).  He moved into a pin I could make with the bishop, the only problem was that the spot I could pin him at was blocked by one of my pawns.  Luckily I could promote with check, forcing him to take with the bishop, I could then move my bishop down and pin the rooks I found this move to be very forcing, even if it hadn't been promoting with check, he still would have been forced to take, or be down a queen. I posted this to show that pawns could sometimes be better than a piece, because he surely would have broken through if I didn't have my pawns defending me, and to explain to some people that you should sometimes promote not to gain an extra piece, but to open up a tactical position that can easily get you ahead or in a winning position. I feel that I do not need to post the position in order to explain my point, but please asak if you do want to see the game.

I thought that the bongcloud looked interesting, I have not payed enough attention to the opening to analyze it, It seems unorthodox to me at a glance, but I think that it can be verry forcing and powerful if played by a strong player, and it is important  to have played any opening ofren before you can get better at it.  You must know yourself to become better, and understand the oponent to know how to win.  I have done tactics trainer often, and have frequently seen people asking why the oponent made such a stupid move, and sometimes it ends up with a strong threat by the oponent and (if the mistake that the oponent made does not result in mate, and you forget about the threat by your opponent) you could end up down or you may lose due to lack of not understanding your opponent.  Sorry I could not add more insight into your game.

after 1274 views and 51 comments, people have mostly stopped looking at this, I would like more people to start commenting, so I am making this post, so that it will be in most recent topics, and maybe someone will post something, and help me revive this forum.  If you happen to read this please read some of the posts, at least the most recent ones, that way you will know what we have talked about.

Hoping for new coments,

I do but it is also nice to have a forum to come back to, some of the other forums start to get weird, and sometimes I do end up commenting on others forums.  Of course others may think that this forum is weird also, so I guess we all critsize each other.

Follow these rules:

1. Be nice.

2. Be friendly.

3. Be constructive

4. Wear a thick skin - don't get mad - don't get hurt. Just let it ride. If it bothers you too much drop the thread and don't follow it anymore.

5. Pay attention to what others say and try to gently encourage people who are saying things you like. People appreciate being noticed.

I agree with using those guidlines.  I also agree with searching through others posts find interesting comments, but I thought I should make this forum so that I would not have to search through others forums to find something interesting, it seemed quicker to do it this way. Thanks for the comments.
