how helpful is it to play against the custom bots for a beginner?
If I was starting from scratch I would learn how to checkmate a king with just a queen. I would learn how to promote pawns. I would learn to slllllooooowww down and avoid blunders you can do all this without social pressure v bots good luck with your chess journey oh I would do all the chess.com lessons absolutely.

Most beginners enjoy playing against them while they are just starting. They can be set to allow takebacks and give hints, which is very useful when you are just learning.
The lower rated bots play basically the same game every time. You might need a few tries but eventually you will stumble on a strategy that helps you win.
