Bots vs. Humans?

I have been able to successfully beat 4 of the 2200 rated chess bots without help, as well as every bot below them. My current rapid rating sits at around 1200, blitz at 1000, and bullet at 500. I know bots and humans play very differently, but I still feel like in order to beat someone several times, you have to be at least kind of on their level. I play without time control against bots, so I have more room to think, but that shouldn’t make a difference of 1000 rating points, right?

They make these bots is to resemble humans, but it is not really easy to make bots to resemble humans that don't play that well.

For instance, for lower level bots, they will play well, and then out of the blue, they will make a game losing mistake. Most of the time, this is not how humans play. In many cases you have to pressure them to make a mistake, not always of course, but that is how it works most of the time.

In my experience, 2 000+ bots are not easy to beat, but if you get to the endgame, they will make mistakes that will lose the game. I've beaten some that way, and their mistakes were illogical, it was as if I was playing a different player.

In simple terms, don't try to compare bots to humans, playing those bots is in most cases, just for fun. happy.png

Bots ratings here are inflated compared to human ratings on the site.

As for longer games, if you enjoy having more time, you might want to try longer games as well. The pool of players is small, but on 1 4000 level, there are still plenty of people. For me, slower chess is the best kind of chess.

From my point of view  you don't really play against them because the bots have to play at tempo while you have all the time you want.

Against  humans you'd be 1000 elo but you really play against them because you don't have all your time (5 or 3 minutes, blitz time ) and they have time to play.

To play really against the bots, you have to choose a bot, click on personalized, put time 5 minutes.

(Even if it is not really or necessarily comparable elo obtained against bots and against humans, at least it makes sense because you play in the same conditions, the same rules.)

Anyway it's a good sign or encouraging if you can beat bots + 2000
