Congrats on winning as much as losing. That's no small feat. When we start, we seem to lose an awful lot.
That being said, one's record is only a strong as one's competition. If you are .500 against 1000 level competition, then you're a 1000 level player. But if you are .500 against 1500 level competition then you're obviously much stronger. You need to be playing as many games as possible against 1100-1300 level competition at this point. And these games should be a slow as your patience, opponents, and connection quality will allow, but certainly not 5 0 or faster. You can't think long enough at those speeds to improve your thinking and judgement abilities.
Along with games against stronger competition, you should add studying tactics -- as much as you can tolerate.
Good luck.
I first started playing chess in January and I was very successful in losing a lot of games very badly :) After a while, I started winning a few which eventually led to me winning more than I lost. So, now I've finally broke even...my record in live blitz chess is 70-70-3! So, my question to you is "is this something anyone else tracked?". Did anyone do it faster, if so, how much faster? Just curious and I also think this is a good indication of ones' future ability (assuming you play opponents near your current ranking whatever that is).
PS. Some games look disproportionate and that's because they were ranked higher, but didn't have a lot of games played, so they now have a much lower ranking (i.e. me at 1037 vs a 902 and me at 1000 vs a 894).
