Its very rare that i come upon a friend in chess game. Its unrated and superfast 1min game. Won 2 lost one on time with an advatageous position. Said hi and greeted him coz ..hes a friend. But lo-and behold after lossing called me names..Darn...that broke my heart...i can take those mumblings if he were not a friend but he was. Sadly he cant take the lose why? Im 1400 in 1 min blitz and hes 1700. He should have seen me beat 1900, 1700s and 1800s too. But no , he thinks i cheated...howah! analyze the games and see if it was indeed cheating, he played badly and lost ..Sore friend..sore loser.Poor guy. I guess i would see alot of his kind here.

So you're saying that you originally considered someone that u just met a few minutes ago on the internet to be your friend?

zovirax

i find this sad also. I wonder what the psycology behind it is.. If these people believe you're really cheating, maybe they are just using it as an insult.

Nope..but someone you met many months ago... The reason chess is more enjoyable is....you play with a friend..who would not rant at you when he loses, but i guess i was wrong.

You can be pretty sure they're using it as an insult.  I don't pay attention to it because I know what I've done and not done.  Their opinion doesn't matter.

a friend you know over the internet or have seen him face to face and talked to him? If its is the former, remove him from your friends and block him, if it is the later talk to him and see why he did it.

Is this the first time you won against him?

Welcome to the real world. There are no permanent friends... only temporary allies and activity partners. Find another temporary friend. Keeping an unworthy friend is not worth it. Find someone who deserves your friendship.

Well, years ago, about 20, i taught a friend,who i used to

Play poker, chess. Then he went into the army for 5 years,

When he came back we were about an even match, i hadnt played for years. Then he got on chess. Com for a few years, and got better than me. Well I couldnt have this happen, not one of my students, so i got on chess.com, got better and just beat him 3 games in a row. He asked me twice if i was cheating, but one game he sarificed 2 pawns and a bishop, the other he blundered a knight, and the 3rd,

He didnt play the most solid moves, so dont feel too bad

Konhidras, ive known him more than 20 years.

When they are new to chess, some people think that because they are intelligent and may very well be, that automatically means they can keep up with people, higher up the ratings scale than actually can. They will assume that because they are of above average intelligence that it translates in a uniform comparison to where they will initially fit into the ratings scale. They also think that their assessment of their above average intelligence automatically equates to being able to beat people easily.

I find everytime I am in a game with a lower rated opponent, I have a sense of confidence and the tighter the game is played, the more I realize that the rating is just a number and on any given day, someone may have yours.

I have a friend who posted in this very thread here, who is my most frequent opponent at chess.com. We have completed 59 games ( all unrated) and have 2 going at the moment. He is about 1250 and has been going up from 1200 since I first started playing with him and I have went up and down between 1617 and about 1475. We are all in flux in our own skills and to rating system drift. Even though the ratings are pretty stable respectively regarding my friend and I, he has beaten me 4 times and drawn with me once, in correspondence games.

If you are losing in blitz, as far as I am concerned, the likelyhood that you were cheated isn't as high, for a few reasons. It is more difficult to set an engine or bot, prepare computer lines to copy moves from, get a stand in's opinion, etc. You are also far more likely to have unusual positions occur, that you are completely unfamiliar with and play worse moves than normal. The initiative in blitz is powerful because, it usually takes more time for black to figure out how to equalize, or gain an advantage and the first move advantage is usually enough to get a more insurmountable advantage most of time in my opinion.

Konhindras, is this friend someone you know in real life? If not, I wouldn't sweat it! Just remove him from your friends list and move on. If he is a real life friend... then beat him over the board face-to-face! Wink

You meet this person many months ago? How many is many? Where did you meet? Cheating in a 1 minute game?! How?

Youve got it!. How in the world can anyone cheat at 1 min blitz? right? But this friend just think i did. Now i feel so good beating a 2040 in a 3 min game. :)

Crazychessplaya

He's no friend of yours. More like a jerk.

There are three ways to cheat in 1 min bullet...a stand in, a bot or flash hacking...

I doubt you used a stand in. A bot would be obvious after an analysis and to prove flash hacking takes multiple witnesses and a few strange patterns in your game results....

I doubt you did any of them. I saw a CM here the other day rated barely over 1200 in bullet. I was rated over 1000 and won several games until I tried a few tourneys, after not having tried to even play it in a while. It is a difficult game. You almost don't have time to think and practically becomes a button pushing contest, where faster reflexs and luck come into play.
