Bullet and Blitz are the Devil

You're just not good enough at blitz yet. Don't worry, neither am I, but for sure, good strategy is still really important.

Watch chessnetwork's 5-min blitz video livestreams with commentary on youtube to get a sense of how a master plays blitz. It's def not about cheap shots. 

Heck, my blitz rating has gone up after I starting incorporating positional knowledge into my play. It was stuck at 1200 when I was playing 'hope for blunders' blitz that you describe, but now in the positions I know, I can definitely force winning positions which is also a lot more satisfying than blunder chess.
