Bullet etiquette

What is the etiquette for resignation in a bullet game? If you have lost position and piece advantage but are ahead on time, should you resign? I've been timed in many games where I've had the advantage. I've also timed others where I didn't but only because people rarely resign when I have the advantage. Interested to hear from anyone regarding the ettiquette here.

There is no etiquette in bullet.

Time is everything in bullet. Never even think of resigning.

YippeeKiYay1

The objective of the game is to win.

Pulpofeira

I suppose you haven't enough time to think about it anyway.

kleelof

there is no etiquette in chess. it is war. all is fair game.

WobblySquares

The basic idea is: Lost position and down on time -> resign and fight another battle.
Lost position but chance to flag the other guy? Give it all it's got! Hurry! Premove! Check check! Type a comment about his momma!

Not only is time the central element, but it is particularly important to play passive-aggressive openings and to make conscientious blunders to defeat your opponent's premove.

I try to play chess in bullet, which is why I'm not very good at it.

Be a clock sucker.

It doesn't matter what they think of you because eventually they'll create a thread about it anyway.

On the other hand, when in doubt, just treat others the way you normally do. How you'd like to be treated.

Write gg, wish them well and move on.

Or be a clock sucker.

Life's too short in worrying about a game that only takes a minute or less to play. Heh.

Was it Gen. Patton who said, "Chess (i.e. war) is hell"?

najdorf96

Ultimately my line is this:

Don't worry about other people's behavior or character (when playing bullet?)

All that really matters is how you treat others.

I certainly don't care if my opponent is sucking my clock, because I wouldn't do the same thing.

I'd think he's a...Well...clock sucker but I wouldn't dwell on it. He certainly doesn't care about my good nature or character either.

Life's too short to care about another's behavior. Period.

We have too many forums about "how your behavior affects others." Heh.

najdorf96

Heh. Life's too short my friend.

Playin's my thing.

Morals, Ethics, Nobility in Bullet chess online I leave to you.

Personally, I've developed a rather thick skin playing, engaging, socializing in Chess clubs, online and off. 20 yrs more or less. I don't sweat the small stuff anymore. It's not worth it chessically or philosophically (looking at it from a different perspective for just a moment).

Again, in every day life or playing chess for enjoyment, how other's treat you is insignificant when compared to how you live your own life. It's cool if you feel people should show honor, display a degree of ethics & morals. I just think it's unrealistic and judgemental.

najdorf96

Heh. I guess it had my friend.

In a way, since you'd addressed me directly as I'd addressed the OP originally, it's significance lies in the fact it effected you...another person, whereas my comment went answered, which was fine with me. It was rhetorical.

I just couldn't not reply to you. It's not in my nature. Especially, again, you'd commented on my comment and not further explore the OP's options.

Treat others how you'd like to be treated. That's significant.

I believe it's still insignificant however one's behavior is viewed when playing bullet or blitz chess.

Haha. Cool. Like everyone else, you forgot the ye olde proverb in NFL football:

Defense wins Championships!

I didn't forget. Denver proved stronger than I thought.
