can a winner lose ratings points?

Hello everyone,
I just beat my friend in chess 960 and rather than go for the boring kill with the queen in two moves (maybe 3,i haven't checked yet) I took a knight and won in 4 moves.
the result said "winner Thephantom54321 rating 1329 (-50)"
I'm not sure what my rating was before but it think it was 1379 and my friend was definitely below me, he still is around 1179 I think.
So what happened does anyone know?
