Can someone explain this to me?

I pulled this from another thread...

"The overall score of Tal vs Fischer is +4 -2 =5 in Tal's favor."

What do the numbers actually mean?

Strange_Idiom

+'s are for wins

-'s are for losses

='s are for draws

Tal's record against Fischer would just be called 4-2-5 in every other sport on the planet, but we chess players love our little symbols.

Ah, it's simpler than it looks.  Thank you.

Actually I like the way it's done in chess better, because 4-2-5 could be interpreted as 4 wins, 2 draws and 5 losses.
