Can taking a break improve your chess?

Sometimes it seems like too much chess can backfire when you are trying to improve so I was wondering if taking breaks from chess is something even strong players do and can it actually help improve somehow? If so how long? Or does it purely depend on the player.

I'd study study study but to no avail ... took a week off played Clash Royale which is a strategy game as well. Came back with more patience and vision. Last year I took off almost a month and then broke 800 to 1100 with ease ... looks like I need to study and break lol

Try doing 20 tactics a night and morning only for a week then review. Or study without playing matches and

analyze your games !!!!! please analysis is key

I don't recommend taking a break from chess. It does backfire. You can see this in my v3 stats history. You suddenly see that life is more important than Chess, and so your intensity to study is somewhat diminished when you return to the game again.
