Can we STOP people from STALLING?

Everyone is stalling in my rapid 10|0 games when they are losing!

I undoubtedly have come across many occasions where the person in your opposition gives up in rage and loss, but wants to punish their opponent just for devouring any hope of them winning. In annoyance the winning person has to wait until their opponent loses on time or they lose on game abandonment. During the stalled game, the winning person has to wait many minutes in boredom and time is lost. The people who have stalled to me occurred most when I was in lower ratings, but still bad sportsmanship still happens when someone is losing in utter anger.

I'm not blaming everyone, as most of you are nice. But I'm just asking if there is or will ever be a way to stop this insanity. The stalling people usually take 5-60 minutes. In my rapid games (for getting trophies for leagues) stallers often annoy me because this is wasting my time. The time that should be used to play chess.

Please stop.

If you're playing a 10min rapid, that means the game can last up to 20min, so you should have made sure you have that much time available. Don't play a chess game if you can't or won't afford the time it takes for both players to exhaust their clock.

Yeah, stalling is annoying, but it's less annoying it you don't obsess over time. Keep an eye on the stalled board just in case the opponent tries to pull a sneaky on you, while you do some analysis or such. It's not like someone's holding a gun to your head and telling you to gormlessly stare at the stalled game until the clock ticks out.

I always report stallers. I used to get messages from chess.com saying they had taken action on my report, but this stopped a few months ago. It seems like they are no longer punishing people for stalling. Or at least they aren't punishing as many of them. Every day I run into stallers and report them, but it seems pointless.

I’ve been playing Chess for 40+ years. having Asperger’s, it is rather difficult for me to associate with people. But I love Chess. Maybe one of these days I will play a person. Why do people ‘stall’ or quit when they are losing?

Stalling is not cool and I do not do it, but seriously, if it’s a 10|0 game, why is it a big deal? It will take 10 minutes max. That is the time it takes to figure out one move in classical quite often. 10 minutes is close to nothing when it comes to chess imho.

Analysing the game you are playing, would be considered cheating, unless it is daily, and even then you can not use an englne.

Unless you do it in your head, but that quite often requires staring at the board.

just start a new game if they stall

The best counter to stalling/"rage-quitting" is to login to chess.com on another device if possible (or just do something else altogether), then play a new game while keeping an eye on the one game to make sure the opponent doesn't get sneaky and plays a move to get *your* time winding down).

Accept the bad with the good. I've been the victim of stalling too and had opponents stop moving with 50+ minutes on their clock. It sucks, but it's life. Maintain your serenity.
I usually sent them a message like, "Thanks for the easy win".  And I mean it. I'd much rather earn the W, but again, you don't always get that choice.

you could just play a second game on your main device

How? Wouldn't that cause a disconnect?

Had an opponent today who has down two minor pieces. I was in such a winning position that I even gave away my knight lol. One move before checkmate, his king has one square to move to, and he just refused to play it. I told him in the chat that I reported him and some minute later he resigned. Oh well….I just premoved the checkmate and went away to do some house chores.

Unless you mean playing a Simul...but don't you have to be a Premium member to do that?
