Can you really get better at chess off of Youtube?

This is something that I've been quite confused about recently because I got to where I am now of of books and Chess.com courses. And I have a few friends that say that the have "improved" because of people like "GothamChess" and "Hikaru" but I have doubts that their content (Like speed runs and saying, THE ROOOOOOK" can really help you improve THAT much at the game of Chess.

Thanks!

Maybe you can learn something from old Gotham series How to win at chess, but his recent videos are useless. Hikaru’s chess is way to high level and he also speeks very fast. I only watch his analysis of his otb games, in which he speaks more slowly.

Most of the concrete theory I've learned was through Aman Hambleton speedruns on the Chessbrah channel and Danya Naroditsky's educational videos. You won't acquire expertise in chess by watching videos alone, but they can be helpful.

Most of the youtube chess related videos are pure trash, and even the best channels offer some sort of passive learning, which does not work for the majority of chessplayers.
