Blunder-check your every move, be aware of your opponent ideas, learn some strategy, practice a lot,...

Remember CCAODW. The golden rule. Look for good checks. If there aren't any, look for good captures. If none of those exist, look for good attacks. Keep in mind of your opponent's threats. If you can't find checks, captures, or attacks, stop the threats. If there are none or you can't stop it, which is almost never the case, you can simply develop. If you can't, play a waiting move. That's the rule.
