Does any of you have played the Capablanca chess?

Which do you think is better the normal or the Capablanca chess?

da_tornado

Here is the link about Capablanca Chess

Tricklev

Normal chess is complicated enough for me. Seing how lousy I am at this, I doubt I would be able to manage Capablanca Chess to a high degree.

What are you saying?

That Capablanca didn't play normal chess?

Jon_MaL

No I'm not saying that. What I mean is a chess version made by the well known chess master 'Cabalanca'

Finsfan96

I haven't tried Capablanca chess but it look like a cool way to play

No wonder he became world chess champion! He was sneaking chancellors and archbishops onto the board when no-one was looking...

Tajamoen

How many points would the archbishop and the chancellor be?

Seven points?

Could a pawn promote to an archbishop or a chancellor?

What would the notation be?

So many possibilitiesTongue out

I think it's an interesting idea but I prefer the original.  I believe with more pieces you are actually increasing the chances for the person who plays white.

Chess isn't 'played out' though and I don't think it ever will be by humans.  At the end of the day it's very rare (if ever) that any game played between two people that is 30 moves or more has ever been played before and is therefore totally unique.  Even if computers do 'solve' Chess then it won't really change the game for humans.

I also want to point out that a computer that can solve normal chess will very likely be capable of solving Capablanca chess too, and in any event computers would still become unbeatable by humans. Cool

I haven't played Capablanca Chess, but I've wondered if the new pieces in it are too powerful.

Then I realize that sometime in the Middle Ages someone must have uttered a sentence about chess very like the one above when speaking about the queen.

Well my version of Chess is much funner and never ends in a draw: Cool

I tried it a few times and liked it, though these days when I want some rest from 'normal' chess I just play chess960 (Fischerandom Chess), or make a complete turn and play Xiangqi (Chinese chess) or Shogi (Japanese chess).

Do you know of a site on which you can play Capablanca Chess?

pandelus

Where can you play chess960 online?

Sahist4

Hopefully on this site soon! Wink

chess960 certainly gets my vote... maybe because I don't study chess and don't know any openings but I think it gets you to the interesting 'free thinking' part of the game much quicker rather than playing 4 or 5 moves (or more if you are good) off pat....
