Carlsen beats the tournament winner

I suddenly realised that: in the tournaments which Carlsen does not win, he usually defeats the eventual winner. Some examples that come to mind are Tata Steel 2011, 2012, Norway 2013. I think this speaks a lot about how good he is. Does anyone else think so too?
