However here is the twist, when you "checkmate someone" they are checkmated for as long as the peices stay there. Move them, and the player is back in the game. The only way to absolutlely destroy a player is to remove every one of their peices except their king.The winner is announced when either 3 kings are left by themselves and one person with enough material to at least checkmate one of them. Or 3 players are checkmated at the same time in a weird messed up way.
Four masters should prove to be very exciting! As the further you go into the game, the harder it is to stay alive and win!

It's a lot of fun to play with two players and each player have two colors. However 4 player would be insane, because to win a game you have to lose some material of your own, and the other players would hopelessly out-number you.
Yes, insane, played it multiple times with friends, and we aren't experts. Imagine 4 experts playing! It would be intense!
