his knight is useless, pawn is hanging, and the rook is on a open file with nothing to protect the king. Magnus would go crazy in this position and topalov did the correct thing

Fritz concurs with orangehonda. FWIW It gives the position +3.27. it disliked black's 26. ... Qd8 and 27. ... Be6. However, as Catalyst_Kh is wont to remind us, Fritz and Rybka, while very strong playing engines are not the greatest for positional analysis.
