Carlsen Vs Vishy

Who do you think is having the good chance to win the title this coming NOVEMBER?

zBorris

Vishy has more stamina in my opinion. I think Magnus showed a lack of stamina in his losses to Ivanchuk and Svidler after he spent energy to beat Gelfand in the candidates.

So if Vishy can keep the score even he should be favored going into the latter rounds when Carlsen's stamina starts to wear thin. But if Carlsen can get an early lead, he should be able to win the match.

Go Carlsen!!

Honestly, I'm a carlsen fan but I also love the style of anand..hehehe thanks for your good replies friends.hehehe

if this things go the way they are going now. all games will be draws Laughing

anand has a cool style but carlsen's positional play will probably prove superior to anand's calculation.

Carlsen admitted that he is not very good at openings.

Nothing I wrote was silly, or stupid, or funny.

Because I know little of chess, I seek expert opinions before offering them. Estragon knows this. My comment about Carlsen's stamina reflects GM opinions on video about Carlsen's relative lack of stamina for a high-quality WC match, not lack of stamina for a single game. Carlsen admitted as much in an interview himself, saying that he had spent all his energy for a win against Gelfand, and blames this spent energy on his failure to predict Ivanchuk's moves, and the subsequent loss. That converts into a lack of stamina gentlemen, and like I said, other GMs on video agreed with this assessment when offering their predictions about the outcome of the match.

I think this thread could be better served without kneejerk ridicule against member's comments who share such qualified opinions after being asked by the OP to provide one.

*It could also be better served if the OP doesn't add to the ridicule with "hehehe-ing".

carlsen may have admitted to not being 'any good at openings' but you know that guy is preparing every day til that match.

Another element is pressure. All eyes are on Magnus.Anand's proven himself, but the world wants Magnus to win. That's gotta be a hard cross to bear.

I don't see the famous Carlsen's superiority yet. His game today is going to be a draw, the same as many of his games. Many people said that he can crush all his opponents easily, but I can't see it.

Anand is winning his game against Topalov...

In 1995, Anand was in a similar (but somewhat different too) situation.

He was playing Kasparov for WC. At that time, Kasparov was already established as the best player. He even got the lead in eighth or ninth matches when he won for the first time in a series drawn matches.

But after playing amazingly well, I think Anand felt the pressure(i wouldnt know anything in certain, i was a kid back then). He lost games one after the other and thereby loosing his best chance to be among the best ever chess players in the history.

Now these two players are facing each other. If Anand wins, his respect will grow ten folds while if Carlsen wins (which is the favourably bet) then Carlsen will join the club of best ever(which he is already in so...). may be the best among the best.

I've read so many posts which sees Carlsen "crushing" Anand...I think this is unrealistic given how strong a player Anand is. He may have lost a step of late, but it is still very difficult to beat him in any game. I think most games will be drawn, and the victor will win by the narrowest of margins. I like both players...so it does not matter to me, which one wins...

Anand may have the Match experience...but is that overrated? Many of recent WCC contests have been won by the less experienced player (Karpov vs Kasparov, Kasparov vs Kramnik, Kramnik vs Anand ). He will also be playing in his home town, this may work in his favour, but it may also work against him...we will see how poised he plays with the added pressure to win at home.

Carlsen also has the pressure of the big ELO hanging over his head...the huge ELO gap has everyone thinking the Match is already won. And what about the venue? Will this have any impact at all upon him? He is unpredictable in his openings, and leaves theory fast, he is also a beast in the middle and end game...so how does Anand prepare for such? His age and physical training will also provide him with an edge in longer games...but will he walk into some good home cooking from Anand?

The more I think about it, I think that both players bring valuable traits to the table which may balance the other.

to: zBorris, i'm sorry if the "hehehe's" sounds like a ridicule to you. But it's just my "Filipino Friendly smile". My "thanks + friends" words were never a ridicule.

Carlsen will win.

Be prepared to see the Moscow Variation of the Sicilian.Carlsen was winging it a couple of times against Anand lately.

They both have excellent chances of winning otherwise they would not be playing in a World Championship Match. I predict it will be close...a crushing victory by either player is unlikely. I like both players approach to the game.
