I’m not being overconfident, but I still think Magnus is a fairly heavy favourite, though what do I know I’m a lowly Class B player.

He is definitely the favorite. But favorite doesn't guarantee victory like many seem to think. Not necessarily you, but I see a lot of fans talking this way.

For his sake, let's hope not. Many of his fans already have. Fame and success have a funny way of getting to people's heads. Carlsen has been a little too cocky lately, IMO. We will see I guess. This might be the perfect storm of a cocky champion and a hungry new challenger. I think we should see how Caruana performs in other tournaments throughout the year and see if he can keep up this momentum. Should set the tone for November.

I think they are going to draw 12 times and then Carlsen will win the 13th game.
Darn close against each other. My prediction, 7 / 5, For Magnus. First 2 games will be drawn. Both will be cautious early on the match. 3rd game, Magnus wins. 4th and 5th will be drawn again. 6th and 7th Caruana takes it. 8th draw, 9th and 10th Magnus wins. 11th draw.....12th, Magnus wins and still WC.....That folks, is what my crystal ball is showing...Anyway, I also took out my old reliable witch bones, dropped it, read it...omg! I'll let you know later. Lol.
First off, congrats to Caruana on winning the candidates!!! Very strong player, and even Magnus showed his respect.
Now, I will kindly request that chess fans get off of Carlsen's nether regions and remember that he is indeed a human being, prone to slumps and poor games just like anyone else. There is no disputing his talent, but some of you all need to stop acting like this championship is already over. Over-confidence has beaten more champions than anything else. Let's hope Magnus isn't as certain in his victory as many of his fanboys are, or we may be in for an underdog upset. On second thought, I have always rooted for the underdog (so much more now that the underdog is an American), so I hope Magnus is as over-confident as many of his fanboys!!!
Let's go Caruana! You got this! The world is yours in November! USA all the way!
