CHAT TURNED OFF?

Totally right Cavaliere and Dana, no one was told a thing or asked for opinions from players who support this site is what ticks me off, it was just DONE, I thought all my friends turned their chat off on me! I get my kicks from talking to real people rather than impersonal chess messages, still haven't found it, I suggest a suggestion is put forward to chess.com to BRING BACK THE CHAT window

Hey I like to read what the chat box says and I already have my last mave highlighted. Why cant I  have a choice.....

Yes MsJean, it only takes one backward move to work out where you are in the game, WHO REALLY reads and studies the chess notation anyway? BORING COLD GAME! might as well play the computer

It only takes one click to open the chat tab.

If this one click is a "hassle" to you, I think you have bigger issues than the chess.com chat box. I suggest you stop using a computer, because you might get depressed over all those mouse clicks it involves...

If something is going right then LEAVE IT ALONE, right??? Well what WASN'T right with having a chat window left open? Doesn't anyone put welcome matts out their porch anymore? We just simply keep that door shut? Do WE HAVE TO KNOCK BEFORE WE TALK on chess.com? This stranger =danger thing has gone a tad too far and hey! a thumtack saves the nails! haha

From the tone of your previous posts you seem to be the one who's upset, which leads me to think that you forgot to take your meds or need to get some, because you're arguing over an issue that can be solved with one mouse click.

 I totally agree. I can see what move my opponent has made but not whether they have made a comment. Part of the fun of the site is making brief remarks, if only at the start and finish of games.

Those who suggest that wanting to have the chat window open by default indicates laziness are wrong. Computers are about making life easier not more irritating.

I support the idea of having the opportunity to set our preferences not having them imposed for no reason.

But we’re not being anti-social! The Chat tab will always have focus as players make their first moves in each game. And the Chat tab will also have focus any time you have new messages to read.  Why fix it when it wasn't broke? At least include an option in the preferences to have players make their own choice -- please.

Too many preferences clutter things up.  Like they said, it's the default on move 1 and if your opponent actually chatted.  To me, this makes sense.  Otherwise you're staring at old comments made several moves ago.

Who says it wasn't?  I understand there are many who prefer it the previous way, but don't act like there aren't people who wanted it this way.  This was a change I had previously asked for, and I wasn't alone in requesting it.  A user-configurable option would be best, but if there isn't one, it makes sense that a chess game on a chess website would by default display the chess moves.

I dare say that if there were a vote you would loose. Raki and I would win!
