cheaters - vacation abuse
I don't see value in it.... If I'm going to be mated, that's that....
I'm currently still playing in a tournament that started in November 2011. I guess I should have thought about whether I might take any vacations in the next 6 years before I joined that.
OMG that's insane
Thats not insane, thats corespondacne chess. We used to us post cards, and mail them back and forth.
You gotta be kidding me, another thread about the same thing. gosh
No, this one is actually more original.
All the others are about cheaters using engines and ¨disrespectful¨ opponents who won´t resign in an inferior position.
What fo you do when someone goes on vacation to avoid lising
Are you implying that going on vacation is cheating?
Then my answer is, such question is a new and quite trashy way of trolling.
Get your own vacation little Girl!
It's not cheating...but here's the point: the reason the tournaments can last 6 years is because of vacation...da???
The reason my tournament is lasting 6 years is because it is a 14 day tournament and some of us only move when the 14 days are nearly up simply because that is how I deal with my games, I make a move in any that have < 24 hours left each day. The whole point of the tournament was to last for a long time though.
What if someone is near losing and they use vacation time for a real reason? (Like going to Alaska or something.)
"Chess.com has the right to adjudicate any game in which we feel one of the players is using vacation time to intentionally delay a game"
Wow! This site use's can use their emotions to decide the outcome of a game! Another example of why I stopped paying money to pay blitz here. There are many others by the way!
I'm pretty sure no-one takes vacation mode during Blitz games.
The only question I have is why the hell would you start a bunch of daily games if you know you are going on vacation???....just plain rude...play live chess if you know your vacation is coming up. The only way I could see it is if it was an emergency or illness or something like that.
That is the dumbest post yet...most players have over 40 games going all the time. They can't help it if they are going to be on vacation and need to pause their games for 5 days. If you are really that anctios about finishing your games I recommend you start more untill you have about 35.
Isnt the point of vacation to be able to pause games, so you can go on vacation?
Last time I checked, maybe it changed...
SOT2 sounds like a real #1 SOB! haha
Watch your step pork

Even without vacation time, games can last months and really big tournaments can last well over a year.
I have vague plans to travel out of state this summer - either to NY in July or to LA in August (and maybe both if I can afford it), I'm still waiting on more information about the events before I decide which I'm going to.
Does this mean I shouldn't start any games right now, just because it is possible they won't be done by July?
Does this mean I shouldn't join a big tournament (such as one of the official chess.com ones), just because I have plans for this year?
Does this mean I should *never* join a big tournament, just because I have the same vague plans for every summer?
Vacation is there because chess.com understands that we have lives outside of their website. Yes, some people abuse it, but most people don't, and most people that play against those abusers deal with it simply by adding a few more games - they won't notice that a few games are on vacation because they have plenty more to play in the meantime.
