Hey let's make a tournament in chess cheating. Something like olympics for dopers. I think Mr. Cheater_1 should be president of our olympic team.  All in favour?

KnightofCyndonia

SOmebody once said"If you can't beat em Join em" I dont suggest you cheat though. But you are being way too serious..Dont play the people you suspect of cheating anymore.

I can see how some people could believe that they are being "Cheated" because of the difference in thier opponant's rating, but one needs to look carefully at their suspect's statistics.

They may consistantly play stronger players than themselves which drag their points down or they may not have reached their true rating yet.

In the end cheaters are really only hurting themselves. You may lose the game but they lose their integrity!!

you said it all knight

"The problem with second-class players is that they sometimes play a first-class game."  Dr. S. Tarrasch

Look, if there was World Open prize money or something similar here I would be tempted to agree.  But to risk membership in this site for a handful of rating points?  I just don't see it.  That being said, I know of many times on the ICC playing 5 minute chess when I saw 800-1000 rated players making moves I don't see from A players.  What happens in those games (which I can't prove but I'm sure I'm right) is that several friends got together to play chess online, and one of the friends IS a strong (2000+) player, and I was the "lucky" twit to get stuck with the guy.  I don't complain about it, though.  I had a good game against a strong player, I played well and lost honorably.  That's all I've ever asked for from chess.

there is no point of cheating.

its no fun to play or win a game.

In my opinion it sounds like you're coming up with Excuses. Im rated 1262 and have gone up from 800 (timeout on 5 games a year ago and came back 2 months ago) To do that i have beaten people rated 1200+ at the time that is 400 points higher than me. Does it matter? no, because i wasnt cheating i was improving my game which allowed me to beat higher players. In turn i hve also lost ridiculous games even when on form to players 200+ points less than me. It does not mean they are cheating, they may just be playing well or you badly. I suggest that instead of complaining about getting beaten you practice a bit more so you can win against lower rated players than yourself.....

BROTHER!  THEY ONLY CHEAT THEMSELVES, REMEMBER THAT!

There are ALOT of players who cheat! The myth that the majority of cheaters are high ranked players is JUST BOGUS.

I play "Live Chess" a lot, me ranked like 1500-1800, and I know that's better than like 90% of the players on the site, and I have lots of conversations like the following:

Me nursing a +1-2 point lead against like a 1300 player and he's like: "zzzZZzz"

Me: "Buddy if you weren't cheating you wouldn't be so bored"

Them: Dead Silence

Yeah to those who think cheating is not blatantly obvious: wake up! It's like if you're a 6th grader. There are some smart 4th and 5th graders out there, but you know you're way, way smarter than the average 4th grader. Sure, maybe on a good day, they could be smarter than you, but that would be a very rare individual, not like every other person! It's pretty obvious if they are out-performing you on a test, that they are cheating. Just plain and simple.

There's a reason why someone is rated 300 points below you: it's because they are NOT AS GOOD OF A PLAYER AS YOU ARE. So yes I understand that even though you are rated higher the other person still has a chance of beating you. When I was rated high 1400s and improving a lot, I was giving 1600 and 1700 players some good games. But they still won like 90% of the time. And it took 100% of concentration and everything going right for me to beat them.

Cheating exists at all levels. Period.

Wait, so what exactly makes you think that they're cheaters other then the fact that they are ignoring you?  I would ignore you.

Ericmittens: You are a man to my own heart. Lol.

Like you I never take net chess seriously. It's for fun. Consequently my games tracks like a yoyo. On a good mood I am invincible (or so I thought), on a foul mood I lost to people in the 900. Doesn't matter.. whether they cheat or not, I just take it as a training session. Using their chess engine or any sort of aid they employed against me to better myself. No need to buy software. Where else can I get something free like that?

So if you are a cheater, try me. Of course, you may not like my lousy ranking .. I think its floating somewhere around the 1300 last time I look. Lol.

Wrong.  I'm probably a bit underrated in Online Chess, and a bit overrated in Live Chess, all because of my average opponent rating.  I could probably be rated 2000+ on Online Chess if all I did was play players under 1000, but that wouldn't make me any better of a player.

I don't understand cheating because the motivation is beyond my comprehension. But, how does one cheat and maintain a low rating? That would seem supreme incompetence. To cheat and not win, now that would be something! I think these incompetent cheaters must be extremely hard to detect.

I'm sick of cheaters on chess.com. Now and then I get beaten by some guys 300 or more points below me, not taking advantage of my blunders but outplaying me tactically and strategically on my good day. Come on people, that really sucks and it's getting on my nerves. On playchess.com cheaters are constantly detected when using computer assistance and sanctioned by deleting his/her elo points but on this site - never. Someone should do something about it...

OK I'll repeat, you missed the point:... "not taking advantage of my blunders but outplaying me tactically and strategically on my good day..."
