Cheating in puzzles

Can I get banned for using engines for solving the puzzles? It seems like I don't do any damage to other players, but still, can I get banned for it?

I dunno does the fair play policy say anything about puzzles

No idea if you'll get banned but it seems a pointless thing to do.

Well, I like using cheats to solve puzzles. But I'm afraid that I can be blocked for this. I just went from 3000 to 3300 with cheats, it's really fun for me

You probably would not get banned because you are not going against someone yet it is a pointless thing to do

I didn't write the bottom part of that. This guy is trying to drag me into his bizarre puzzle cheating.

Ah ok. Misunderstood cause he used the text quote incorrectly and made it look like I'd written it.

If you are using an engine to solve a puzzle, it's not you that's solving the puzzle, is it?

It strictly forbidden to use an engine to solve rated puzzles. Your puzzle rating should reflect your performance by yourself on rated puzzles. But if you've tried and failed a puzzle, it's completely fine if you want to try again unrated with the help of an engine. It can often help you understand a puzzle better.

It doesn't say anything about puzzles

  • All of your moves must be your own.
  • Do not cheat in any way.
  • Do not get help from any other person, including parents, friends, coaches or another player.
  • Do not use chess engines, software of any kind, bots, plugins, browser extensions, or any tools that analyze positions during play. We can detect if you are using any of these programs.
  • Do not use tablebases or any other resources that show the best move (in both Online and Daily chess).
  • You may use Opening Explorer or other books in Daily chess only (not in Online / Live play).
  • Do not perform any automated analysis or “blunder checking“ of your games in progress.
  • Do not allow anyone else to use your account.
  • Do not use anyone else's account.
  • Do not artificially manipulate ratings, matches, or game outcomes.
  • Do not interfere with the gameplay of other members.
  • Suspecting your opponent of using outside help is not an excuse to do the same. If you suspect someone is cheating, report the player to Chess.com.

However, there is a puzzle leaderboard, making cheating on puzzles technically not allowed as cheating on puzzles would be unfair for the legitimate players seeking a leaderboard position.

Well, he is not a cheater as he asked for information. The cheater usually proceeds without asking.

If you're gonna use cheats to do puzzles don't do them in the first place. Puzzles are supposed to be a fun choice of challenge, but cheating ruins the whole purpose. What is the point of puzzles when it's not gonna be challenging. I don't think it's bad enough to get banned for, but it's just a pointless, and very boring thing to do.
