I'm not talking non sense, it's a true story and it's not uncommon at all. It's not because you don't believe it that it means it doen't happen. I remember also one GM in desperate position could draw if opponent had one pawn on h file removed, opponent goes to toilet (again), GM takes the pawn, opponent comes back and is confused a bit, game is drawn.

Name names or nobody will believe your fairytales.

i didn't know that computer assistance is allowed. what is the point of playing correspondence chess if we are allowed to use chess engines to find the move? also I'm wondering why should there be multiple days for making a move if you are using computer assistance.

Computer assistance =/= an engine playing all the moves.

names are irrelevant, if you don't want to believe it then ignore it and move on.

yes I meant chess.com turn-based games

Hmm, if these 2 are not the same, then may I ask where can we sign up to play correspondence chess then?  I thought we were allowed to used computer software in turn based games on chess.com

Maybe chess.com should offer that.  I would gladly sign up.

No wonder you're tigerprowl9 not tigerprowl1...

I have other special achievements to get that honor of ranking as 9.

What is so important about an imaginary rating that is as useless as Monopoly money on the real market?

Why can't 2 people play unrated turn based games on chess.com and use chess software?

Whatever your level is on this site it has to be bcaked up by your level in real life. I'm a uschess 1800+ and I'm around 1900 here on everything. Any player that has no real life rating and is near or above 2000 is probably cheating.

I won't cite GM names, opponent score sheet used with pencil, opponent goes to toilet, GM take score sheet, change moves, change board, opponent comes back, is confuse a bit, play resume, GM wins ... I got more of those. And yes the GM himself told me that story and many more.

Because a GM wouldn't a notice a change on the board or the sheet.
YEAH RIGHT.

Computer assistence is allowed in actual, official correspondence events.
Not here, though.

only in unrated games and agreed between the two parties.

YEAH RIGHT.

Not only that but there are spectators, arbiters, live relayers of moves, cameras at most events.

Yeah. I still don't see the point, but I guess it's natural that anything goes if it's unrated and consensual.

You guys are still trying to convince yourself that what I reported is BS? Suit yourself or google "chess GM cheating" and report some yourself.

Not trying very hard, I didn't take much convincing.

That is beautiful.

I agree, if a person cheats, they are cheating themselves. The vast majority play for fun. Is it conceivable that some people would try to cheat when money is involved. Of course. That's a given, look at sports.

That's why i'm still "Unrated" at On-line chess....

But you can always check someone out. If he has 1900+ rating at On-line chess, and rating less that 1400 at Standard/Blitz then, you know what's happening.

Are you kidding me?

There are loads out there with 2000+ TB ratings and <1000 blitz ratings...

Well there certainly seems to be a lot of it going on. For a site that says it has a no tolerance policy on cheating they're pretty lax with regulating it.

Known offenders should just have their ip banned.

IP banning is ridiculous. Not only can the offender simply change their IP, but it can impact people who had no involvement. For example, you IP ban someone who was at an internet cafe or library and all of the computers there are blocked.
