Cheating on This Site Has Gotten Way Out of Control

It’s at the point now where about half of the players I come up against are cheaters. Some are extremely obvious and still their accounts are not closed because they are paying members. I am currently writing an in-depth exposé on this topic and it is going to be published.

I reported a player recently who had won 8 straight rapid matches with an average accuracy above 95%, with an all-time win percentage above 80% and their account was still not closed because they were a diamond member. I’ve accumulated enough evidence to prove beyond any doubt that Chess.com is much less likely to close an account for cheating if they are a paying member. A lot of these cheaters are not even remotely subtle; it is incredibly obvious.

This site has become almost unplayable because of the amount of cheating, and Chess.com’s unwillingness to take direct action, particularly against paying members, has all but destroyed the integrity of this site. Chess.com needs serious reform or it will die due to players such as myself who have had enough leaving for other sites where cheating is not nearly as much of an issue. 18 opponent’s accounts have been closed due to cheating just in the past number of months, and that number should easily be ten times the amount. I know I’m not alone in saying that players such as me who love the game and care about its integrity have had enough.

(shhh… the moderators are listening 🤫 there are websites that actually do things about cheating…but we can’t talk about that here…)

Cheating simply does not occur as frequently as you describe it to be, especially at the 1900 level. I suggest you try to spend your time studying and reviewing losses instead of blaming cheaters for them.

They post reports every month about the anti-cheating efforts they are making.

They closed more than 100,000 accounts last month and still some people say they are doing nothing.
